The lightest convertible tablet delivers durability, speed, Akku Sony VGP-BPS8 and a display that supports pen and touch input.

There's something oddly satisfying (and a little scary) about dropping a notebook from 30 inches to see it if can survive. The Toughbook C1, the world's lightest 12.1-inch convertible, barely flinched. Then we did it again. Nothing. And that's not all this multitouch tablet can take. The C1 (starting at $2,499; $2,829 as configured) can shrug off 6-ounce liquid spills and up to 225 pounds of pressure. Just as important, demanding Akku Sony VGP-BPS8a healthcare and field sales workers will appreciate that this Core i5 notebook performs like a champ and lasts up to 10 hours on a charge--if you pay for the second battery. While too pricey for most road warriors, the durability and versatility Panasonic offers will easily win over its target audience.

Design and Durability

You could try to find a lighter 12-inch convertible, but you won't. At just 3.2 pounds with a single battery and 3.7 pounds Sony VGP-BPS8 Battery with an optional battery in the second bay, the C1 weighs less than the Lenovo ThinkPad X201 (starting at 3.5 pounds), the Dell Latitude XT2 (3.6 pounds) and every other competitor on the market. On the other hand, this Toughbook is on the chunkier side, measuring 1.2 to 1.7 inches thick. The XT2 has a 1.1-inch profile, and the X201 is 1.3 inches.

What you get in return for that extra girth is serious durability. The C1's magnesium VGP-BPS9/B alloy case has been tested to withstand 12-inch drops to any side (non-operating), as well as a 30-inch drop on the base (while operating). We know this Toughbook is tough because we tried the latter torture test during this review. The first time a rubber bumper on the back right of the machine popped off, but we easily put it back on. The second time nothing happened at all; this business rugged machine just kept running. We even dropped the unit a third time from 30 inches to no ill effect. The C1 also survived a 6-ounce water spill and VGP-BPS9A/B a 180-pound man standing on top of the lid (with a board in between to evenly distribute the weight).

Whether you're roaming the hospital or you're out in the field, the C1 is easy to use and carry. That's because this convertible features an ergonomic hand strap on the bottom of the unit, along with a raised dome underneath that makes the machine easier to grip with one hand. A unique triple-hinge design--two for opening and closing the lid VGP-BPS9/S and one for rotating the screen--makes this tablet less susceptible to failure over time. We needed to use more force than we're accustomed to when switching into tablet mode and back again, but the screen location lock was reassuring.

Heat

The Toughbook C1 is one of the coolest notebooks of any size we've tested. After playing a Dell Studio 17 Battery Hulu video for 15 minutes, we measured temperatures between 78 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit on the touchpad, between the G and H keys, and on the underside of the system. Most notebooks register in the mid 90s or higher. The C1's fan got a little loud at times, but it's definitely working.

Keyboard and Touchpad

Because the C1's keyboard

is flanked by rubber bumpers (designed to protect Dell Studio 1737 Battery the screen bezel when the lid is closed), the layout doesn't extend to the edges of the desk. This results in some undersized keys, especially the space bar. The keys are also shorter than we're accustomed to, which made typing feel cramped at first.

However, the keys provided solid, springy feedback, and we noticed zero flex. In addition, the two rubber bumpers on the back Dell Studio 1535 Battery of the C1 raise the laptop, resulting in a more comfortable angled typing position.

We've never been huge fans of the circular touchpads on Toughbooks, but this one VGP-BPS13B/Q gets the job done. Though it's a somewhat small 1.8 inches in diameter, moving the cursor was easy. You'll find two dedicated mouse buttons underneath that are easy to activate.

Ports

The left side of the C1 houses two USB ports, Ethernet and modem jacks, good battery and the power connector. You'll find an old-school PC Card Type II slot on the right side, along with the digital pen holster, a third USB port, and a VGA connector. The front edge of the notebook has a power switch, wireless switch, headphone and mic jacks, and an SD Card slot.

This configuration did not include a webcam, but it's available as battery an option, as is a fingerprint reader.

Will Facebook Places Make Us More Human or Just Marketing Pawns?

For years critics of Facebook have blamed the social networking service VGP-BPS8 for making its users less, well, social. Why go out when you can just sit at home and tend to a virtual farm, muse on someone else’s wall, or try to break your high score on Bejeweled Blitz? Facebook Places has the potential to silence those naysayers. It’s a new service (available in the updated iPhone app and via a mobile site) that encourages VGP-BPS9/B users to check in at bars, coffee shops, concerts, restaurants, and other locations where we interact with flesh-and-blood—and not just virtual—friends.

According to Facebook, the goal of this new feature is to keep the Third Place alive. That’s what sociologist Ray Oldenberg VGP-BPS9/S calls the vital public spaces that exist between home and work, where we share our stories and ideas. During the launch event, vice president of product Chris Cox, who referenced Oldenberg, argued that Facebook Places would encourage its members not just to gawk at friends’ photos, but participate in the real world. Like Foursquare and Gowalla, Facebook Places lets you check in to various Dell Studio 17 Battery businesses and locations, but this service isn’t a game with badges or mayorships. Facebook says it’s really about sharing stories and “staying connected” to the friends around you. And yet Facebook Places will integrate with both Foursquare and Gowalla, leveraging Facebook’s API. So if you use either of those apps, you’ll be able to share those check-ins on your Facebook feed. The popular user-review service Yelp will also leverage Facebook’s platform. As you might expect, marketers want to be your friend, too.

Your check-ins will also appear on that location’s Facebook Places page, whether it’s a park, restaurant, or store. Another Facebook Places feature is tagging, so you can notify friends when you’ve arrived at a location. If you grant permission, friends can even check you into a location.

And that’s where Places really gets tricky. As Facebook opens up its service to third parties, the company says “your friends Sony VGP-BPS13A/B Battery will be able to share your check-ins with the applications they use to help create new social experiences.” If Facebook doesn’t have the right safeguards in place, however, some of these experiences could be harmful. So, yes, in a way Facebook Places does put the “social” back in social networking. Praxis-Test: Intel X25-V G2 40GB SSD

Die Möglichkeiten ein Notebook VGP-BPS9/B aufzurüsten sind eingeschränkt. Während der Grafikchip, bis auf wenige Ausnahmen, hier rasch ausfällt und auch die CPU meist nur unter Gefährdung einer allfälligen Garantie für ein Upgrade heran gezogen werden kann, sieht die Sache beim verbauten Massenspeicher und beim Arbeitsspeicher schon anders aus. Ein Upgrade des Arbeitsspeichers bringt ab etwa 4GB kaum eine spürbare Steigerung der Performance des jeweiligen Systems. Damit bleiben wir bei der letzten Möglichkeit, an der verbauten Hardware Hand anzulegen – bei der Festplatte.

Aktuell findet man überwiegend Massenspeicher mit einer Kapazität von 160-640 Gigabyte Akku Dell Latitude D620 in Notebooks. Die Rotationsgeschwindigkeit beträgt dabei entweder 5400 oder 7200 Umdrehungen pro Minute. Bislang scheiterte der breite Einsatz an SSDs schlicht an ihrem Preis. Während die Preisspanne pro Gigabyte Speicherkapazität zwischen Akku Dell Latitude D610 2 und 3 Euro liegt, sind herkömmliche Festplatten mit gerade einmal 0,15 bis 0,2 Euro pro GB hier eindeutig im Vorteil. Ein Vertreter dieser Modelle ist die X25-V von Intel, die mit einer Speicherkapazität von 40 Gigabyte sozusagen als Minimalvariante eines Betriebssystem-Datenträgers Akku Dell Latitude D630 darstellt. Aktueller Straßenpreis: knapp über 100 Euro.

Das Projekt

Vor gut eineinhalb Jahren wurden einige letzten Thinkpad T61 Akku Dell Latitude D830 Modelle hierzulande zum Schnäppchenpreis von deutlich unter 1000 Euro, wohlgemerkt ohne Betriebssystem, mit magerer Speicherausstattung und mittlerweile altbackener 2 Gigahertz Core 2 Duo T7300 CPU / NVS 140M Grafik auf den Markt geworfen. Dafür gab’s allerdings 3 Jahre Business Vor-Ort Service und als Zuckerl noch ein integriertes UMTS Modem dazu. Es sollte ein reines Arbeitsgerät werden, und so kam Windows XP inmitten der „Hochkonjunktur“ von Windows Vista zum Einsatz.

Das Programmverzeichnis füllte sich nach und nach mit mehr oder weniger nützlicher Software, wobei mit der Zeit, wohl auch bedingt durch die in diesem Akku HP Compaq 6730B Zeitraum zahlreich vorbei ziehenden hoch-performanten Notebook-Testgeräte, doch schon hin und wieder das Verlangen nach mehr Power aufkam. Nachdem mittlerweile auch Windows 7 seine erste Bewährungsphase schon hinter sich gebracht hatte, entstand die Idee, den alten Herrn mit einem aktuellen Betriebssystem und einer für einen IT-Redakteur mittlerweile bereits obligaten SSD auf den aktuellen Stand der Technik zu bringen, oder zumindest zu diesem ein Stückchen weiter aufzuschließen.

Die Wahl fiel auf Intels X25-V 40GB SSD. Warum? Da das T61 die Option bietet, mittels entsprechendem Akku Hp Compaq 6820S Adapter im Ultrabay-Laufwerksschacht eine zweite Festplatte zu installieren, reichte auch eine SSD mit geringerer Kapazität, um sowohl in den Genuss der spannenden SSD-Performance zu kommen, als auch ausreichend leistbaren Speicherplatz zur Verfügung zu haben. Als Betriebssystem kam Windows 7 Ultimate in der 64Bit Variante zum Einsatz, sprich klotzen, nicht kleckern.

Die Installation

Für den geplanten Festplattentausch war das Lösen von Akku HP Compaq 6730S genau einer Schraube am Gehäuse notwendig. Gesagt getan, alte Harddisk raus, HDD-Rahmen wechseln, SSD rein. Die alte Festplatte kam schließlich in den Adapter und wurde sogleich in den Ultrabay-Schacht eingesetzt, zu groß war die Trennungsangst vom geliebten und eigentlich einwandfrei funktionierendem Windows XP. „Never change a running…“ - Himmel was mach ich hier bloß? Ein Start direkt von der Systemfestplatte-alt klappte allerdings einwandfrei, insofern sollt nichts schief gehen.

Windows CD ins externe Laufwerk und ab die Post. In der Tat, sofern die entsprechende Software auf Speichermedien vorhanden ist, sollte dies Akku dell Studio 15 selbst vom Technik-Laien zu schaffen sein. Windows war dann auch recht schnell oben auf der SSD. Skepsis machte sich dann allerdings beim ersten Start breit: Es dauerte und dauerte bis endlich das Startmenü kam und die Wahl zwischen alt und neu bot. Moment, Startmenü? Noch dazu auf der alten lahmen HDD? – FAIL.

Ziel war es ja, bzw. hätte es sein sollen, die alte HDD als Datenspeicher Akku Dell Laptop zu nutzen, diese bei Platznot einfach auszutauschen und das Notebook auch ausschließlich mit der SSD betreiben zu können. Epic Fail, um genau zu sein.

Mobile Flash Fail: Weak Android Player Proves Jobs Right

While I love this idea, I actually found that some Flash sites had more difficulty loading on the mobile browser when I had the plug-in enabled. At one point, for a period of about 45 minutes, I was inexplicably unable to load either New York Times home page or LAPTOP’s home page as the Droid 2′s browser got stuck at the point where it was trying to download some Flash ads Dell Vostro 1500 Battery and a Flash video player.

Despite all the problems I experienced with Flash Player 10.1, I suppose Adobe deserves credit for bringing the grownup PC experience of Flash to phones. Now, I can browse around the Web and attempt to use Flash sites that were never designed for my phone and see how it goes. Sometimes, I’ll even be good battery pleasantly surprised. Test Toshiba Satellite Pro L650-197 Notebook

Laut Hersteller Toshiba soll die raue und Akku Sony VGP-BPS9 robuste Oberfläche Kratzer und lästige Fingerabdrücke auf ein Minimum reduzieren, und gleichzeitig durch die schwarze Aufmachung seriös und elegant wirken. Ein schneller Blick auf die verbaute Hardware offenbart einen Prozessor von Intel (Intel Core i5-450M Prozessor) und eine Grafikkarte aus Sony VGP-BPS8 Battery dem Hause ATI (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5145) mit HyperMemory Unterstützung. Gehäuse

Bevor wir hinsichtlich der Hardware und Leistung weiter ins Detail gehen, nehmen wir Akku Dell Latitude D820 das Gehäuse einmal genauer unter die Lupe. Das 15,6 Zoll große Kunststoffgehäuse macht hinsichtlich der Stabilität im Großen und Ganzen einen guten Eindruck. Neben der Displayrückseite, die unter Druck deutlich nachgibt, zeigt das Gehäuse auch im Bereich des optischen Laufwerks kleine Schwächen bei punktueller Druckausübung. Grund dafür dürfte der darunter liegende Hohlraum des optischen Laufwerkes sein. Ansonsten wirkt das Case recht robust. Sowohl die Handballenauflage als auch der Bereich zwischen Akku Dell Latitude D630 Display und Tastatur sind gegenüber punktuellem Druck recht widerstandsfähig.

Ebenso stellt das einseitige Anheben an der Baseunit kein Problem für das Toshiba Satellite Pro L650 dar. Bis auf eine Kleinigkeit, eine minimal Akku Dell Latitude D830 überstehende Kante auf der rechten Seite der Handballenauflage um genau zu sein, gibt es auch hinsichtlich der Verarbeitung nichts auszusetzen.

Das 15,6 Zoll große matte Display wird auf beiden Seiten von zwei kleinen Scharnieren fest in Position Akku Dell Latitude D610 gehalten. Das Öffnen und Schließen geht leicht von der Hand, ohne störende Geräusche seitens der Scharniere. Dabei kommt das Satellite Pro L650 ohne einen komplizierten Verschlussmechanismus aus.

Wie schon im Intro erwähnt, besitzt das Satellite Pro L650 eine schwarze und raue Oberfläche. Dies Akku HP Compaq 6910P beschränkt sich nicht nur auf die Displayrückseite, sondern ist ebenso im Bereich der Handballenauflage vorzufinden. Ein Toshiba Schriftzug in silbernen Lettern befindet sich auf dem Deckel des Displays. Hersteller Toshiba schwimmt bei seiner L650 Reihe gegen den Strom und verzichtet auf jegliche Hochglanzoberflächen. Leider ist das Satellite Pro L650 nur in der Farbe schwarz zu haben. Sich zu etwas mehr Farbe zu bekennen könnte sicherlich nicht schaden und den einen oder anderen unentschlossenen Käufer an Akku HP Compaq 6730B Land ziehen. Hinsichtlich Verschmutzungen durch Fingerabdrücke ist unser Testgerät, im Vergleich zu Notebooks mit hochglanzlackierten Oberflächen, deutlich im Vorteil.

Ausstattung

Was die Anschlussmöglichkeiten des Toshiba Satellite Pro L650 betrifft, so sind alle Standardports mit an Bord. Diese konzentrieren sich vor Akku Hp Compaq 6820S allem auf die beiden Seitenpartien des Gehäuses, während die Rückseite nur den länglichen mobilen Energiespender beinhaltet, und die Front frei von jeglichen Anschlussmöglichkeiten bleibt.

So befindet sich auf der linken Seite der Kensington Lock, die Lüftungsöffnung, gefolgt vom Akku HP Compaq 6730S analogen VGA Ausgang, HDMI, LAN (Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller), eSATA/USB Kombianschluss und die zwei Audioports für das Mikrofon und Kopfhörer.

Rechts hingegen sieht es etwas übersichtlicher aus. So finden wir hier lediglich einen Kartenleser, zwei USB Anschlüsse, das optische Laufwerk (DVD Super Multi Laufwerk mit Double Layer Unterstützung - TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633C) und der obligatorische Netzstecker.

Beinahe alle Ports werden an den Seitenkanten im Akku Compaq Presario CQ40 vorderen Bereich angeboten. Bei umfangreicher Belegung könnte dies zu Beeinträchtigungen im Arbeitsbereich neben dem Notebook führen. Insbesondere Linkshänder könnten bei Nutzung einer Maus behindert werden.

Ebenfalls mit dabei ist eine VGA Kamera, die im oberen mittigen Bereich des Displayrahmens integriert ist. Im Zusammenspiel mit dem Array Mikrofon ist unser Allround-Testgerät für Videokonferenzen bestens gewappnet.

Für die Kommunikation mit dem Internet oder anderen Gerätschaften stehen dem Satellite Pro L650 sowohl LAN, als auch WLAN (Broadcom 802.11n-Netzwerkadapter) zur akku hp Compaq 6715b Verfügung. Dank einem integrierten Bluetooth Adapter, können auch andere bluetoothfähige Geräte gefunden und eingebunden werden.

Das Toshiba Satellite L650 verfügt grundsätzlich über alle wichtigen Ports, die Akku Dell Laptop für einen reibungslosen Alltag benötigt werden. Norton 360 4.0

Symantec's security suite is stronger than ever, boasting an intuitive VGP-BPS9 interface and beefed-up parental controls.

Symantec pioneered the category VGP-BPS9A/B of all-in-one security suites with Norton 360, which combines traditional tools to thwart malware, spam, and phishing attacks with parental controls, identity theft protection, online backup, and utilities designed to make your PC run faster. The software won our Editors' Choice award two years ago, and this year it earns the honor again, thanks to more robust parental controls and a simple but elegant interface.

Installation

Installing the 300MB program was straightforward: after agreeing to Symantec's terms and conditions, Norton 360 detected and removed VGP-BPS13B/Q a previous-generation Norton product installed on our PC. (It can detect specific versions of competing programs that are known to present compatibility conflicts.) After a brief wait, we were prompted to restart, and that was that.

Interface

The main screen, done up in Symantec's familiar yellow and black tones, has four vertical VGP-BPS13/B panes for Backup, Identity Protection, PC Security, and PC Tuneup. Underneath each pane, you'll see the status (e.g., Protected, written in green). Below that, you'll see an explanation of your status (say, "You are protected for web browsing and e-mail," or "You are secured for online banking and shopping"). Performance and Malware Detection

This edition of 360 ushers in a reputation-based technology that helps identify threats based on how other machines in Symantec's vast network have responded Dell GD761 Battery to them. Backup

Wer viel mit internen SATA-Festplatten hantiert, findet mit der Typhoon Festplatten VGP-BPS9 Docking Station eine komfortable Lösung, um das sonst umständliche Ein- und Ausbauen zu umgehen. Wie gut das funktioniert haben wir getestet.

Egal ob Notebook oder PC, in der VGP-BPS9A/B Regel benötigt man zum Austausch interner Festplatten einen Schraubenzieher, ein geöffnetes Gehäuse und auch etwas Zeit. Mit dieser Umständlichkeit will Typhoons Lösung brechen und bietet eine Dockingstation um interne 2,5“ und 3,5“ Laufwerke schnell und komfortabel einbinden zu können. Auch der generelle Ersatz externer Festplatten scheint möglich, hat man bei mehreren Geräten doch einen erheblichen Platz- als auch Akku Sony VGP-BPS9/B Preisvorteil.

Gehäuse

Die Dockingstation besteht aus schwarzem Kunststoff mit recht pflegeleichter Oberfläche Akku Sony VGP-BPS9 und ist regelrecht auf den praktischen Nutzen reduziert. Hochglanzlackierte Stellen findet man ebenso wenig wie peppige Designelemente.

Die Öffnung mit SATA Schnittstelle ist von Akku Vostro 1000 der Oberseite her erreichbar und lässt sich mit einer vertikal aufgestellten Festplatte bestücken. 2,5“ Geräte passen durch die vorhandene Öffnung, 3,5“ Geräte klappen den Deckel nach unten hin weg und vergrößern damit beim Einschieben den notwendigen Schacht. Die Festplatten werden nur durch die SATA- und Stromversorgungs-Schnittstelle gehalten. Eine weitere Befestigung ist nicht vorgesehen. Bewegt man den Dock, so provoziert man ein Wackeln der Massenspeicher, was auf Dauer sicherlich zu einem Ausleiern oder Lösen der Schnittstelle führen kann. Zu einem schnellen Lösen führt der an der Oberseite integrierte Auswurfknopf. Dieser arbeitet im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes und schleudert insbesondere 2,5“ Festplatten einige Millimeter in die Höhe. Hier sollte man also empfehlenswerterweise mit der zweiten Hand die Platte beim Auswurf festhalten, um Akku HP Compaq 6735S mögliche Beschädigungen an den Schnittstellen zu vermeiden.

Transferraten

An der Rückseite befinden sich der Netzanschluss, die USB 3.0 Schnittstelle und der Netzschalter. Kurz nach Akku dell Vostro 1710 dem Anschließen am USB 3.0 Port kann die Dockingstation verwendet werden. Festplatten werden dann in der Regel per hotplug erkannt und erscheinen kurz nach dem Einschub im System. Wir haben im Test 2,5“ Festplatten von Samsung (HM500JI, 5400 U/min, 320GB), von Toshiba (MK3256GSY 7200 U/min 320GB, und MK3265GSX 5400 U/min 320GB) und von Fujitsu (MHZ2160BJ G2 160GB, 7200 U/min) verwendet. Zudem haben wir ein SSD von Kingston (SSD Now SNV125-S2 30GB) mit in Akku dell Studio 17 den Test einbezogen.

Die maximale Schnittstellenperformance konnten wir mit den konventionellen Festplatten nicht ausreizen, da die maximale Übertragungsgeschwindigkeit des schnellsten Akku dell Studio 15 Modells bei etwa 90 MB/s liegt. Zudem konnten wir bisher an den getesteten Notebooks und ExpressCards mit USB 3.0 Schnittstelle keine höheren Übertragungsraten als 120 MB/s feststellen. Erst das Solid State Drive von Kingston bleibt mit 150 MB/s am Desktop-PC mit MSI 880GMA-E45 Mainboard Akku Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad X60 hinter den Möglichkeiten (185 MB/s) zurück. Damit kann die Typhoon HDD Docking Station zum einen ihre volle Geschwindigkeit derzeit nur an Desktop-Rechnern erreichen und zum anderen nur durch Solid State Drives bis an die Leistungsgrenze gebracht werden.

Hinsichtlich der Stromversorgung gab es beim Testgerät im HP/Compaq Laptop Akku Unterschied zu Verbatims Store`n`go Portable Hard Drive und dem Festplatten-Gehäuse HDU-700 von Typhoon (je nach Bestückung) keine Probleme, da die Stromversorgung über einen eigenen Netzanschluss gewährleistet wird.

Fazit

Die Typhoon Festplatten-Dockingstation mit USB 3.0 Anbindung ist eine interessante Lösung für Intensiv-Nutzer interner SATA-Festplatten. Die Handhabung ist unkompliziert und komfortabel. Unschön wirkt dabei allerdings die etwas labile Befestigung der Festplatten, die lediglich durch die Schnittstellen und eine Anlehnung an die Schachtwände erfolgt. Die Haltbarkeit im Dauerbetrieb muss die Docking Station also erst noch unter Beweis stellen. Im rein stationären Betrieb sollte man mit sensibler Handhabung akku und Achtsamkeit aber keine Probleme bekommen.
